PROMPTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND.} KEEP MAINTAINING YOUR CHILD AND FATHER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. Child of God, Jesus granted the request of his disciples, that he should teach them how to pray. He taught them. He started with, "When you pray, this is what to say: Father, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come...."(Lk.11:2(11:1-4). The need for us to be healthier, holier and friendly with God because of our forgiving Spirit, forgiving disposition and forgiving attitudes are very pronounced in that beautiful prayer that Jesus taught us. But I am prompted to reflect more on what I consider to be part of the foundation of all. That is viewing God as, "Our Father". We all want to be fruitful, happy and fulfilled. Essentially, we always want to see our good heart desires coming true. This does not depend on our power nor might but on the love, grace and plan of God for us. As such, our view of God is very necessary in determining our approach to Him and the depth of our relationship with Him. I trust that, that is partly why Jesus made the first sentence of the first part of the pattern of prayer he taught us to start with "Our Father", Thus, whenever we address God as our Father, genuinely from the depth of our hearts, it shows our childlike respect, humility and recognition of our total dependent on Him. This is a true disposition for prayer, which is Human - Divine Dialogue. It is meant to be a Lovely Child talking with his or her all Knowing, Loving, Caring, Compassionate, Forgiving and powerful father. That means that our prayer is clearly not to be like a slave or a servant begging a master for something. Therefore, it is note worthy that Childlike Approach and Relationship with God as "Our Father" is very essential for good prayer. Secondly, if we truly see God as our Father, we would be willing and ready to please him by striving sincerely to do His will. When we do so we hallow, honour, praise and promote his holy name with our good lives and works. Hence, every good work Honours God and bears witness to His emerging kingdom of righteousness, immortality and eternity, etc. Let us keep praying and striving to see God clearly and convincingly as our loving and caring Father. Let us keep developing or maintaining our good relationship with God. It opens up the door for all other virtues we need to put God first in all things, serve and honour Him well in all our words and deeds.
