THE HOLY SPIRIT - OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND.} KEEP ENSURING THAT WRONGS KNOWN TO YOU ARE CORRECTED WELL. Noble Child of God, Jesus said, "If your brother does something wrong, go and have it out with him alone, between your two selves. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother"(Mt.18:15(18:15-20) We are meant, as God's Prophets and disciples, not just to live exemplary lives but to also ensure that our Brothers and Sisters, our neighbours do the same. Thus, our roles as Christians go beyond that of watchmen described in the Bible (Ezek.3:17-21). We are not just called to alert or warn people to avoid sin or change from their evil ways or just to keep striving quietly to live a holy life. Jesus reminds us with the citation above, that we are to forgive hurts and ensure that the person who hurt us or the one who wronged or inflicted pain on anyone that comes to our notice becomes remorseful and turn over a new leaf. That means that we are encouraged to keep helping each other to live better by correcting one another privately with love and humility, not with 'holier than thou' attitude. It is very important to remember always that, "THE REPENTANCE OF ANYONE" is an act of God, not human. As such, let us always approach whoever we want to correct with our interior prayer and Greatest Friend, Holy Spirit. Let us remember always that whoever presents himself or herself to us like an 'Unbeliever,' 'Tax Collector' or 'Gentile' demands that we persevere and intensify our prayers and good works for his or her repentance, trusting in God's time that is always the best. Let us note and be convinced that Prayers, Love, Humility and honest efforts to practice what we preach by the grace of God will always help us to win our drifting or derailing Brothers and Sisters over to God. THE HOLY SPIRIT - OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND.} OUR LIVES ARE DIVINE GIFTS FOR SERVICE. Noble Child of God,Come Holy Spirit!..."Leaving the synagogue Jesus went to Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was in the grip of a high fever and they asked him to do something for her. Standing over her he rebuked the fever and it left her. And she immediately got up and began to serve them.(Lk.4:38-39(4:38-44) Peter's Mother-in-Law was weighed down with severe fever at the time Peter brought Jesus and his other disciples to visit her. That "severe fever" can be seen as anything that can hinder anyone from finding joy and fulfillment in his family, marriage, work, office, Church, shops etc. It can be lack of faith and trust in God, lack or lost of money, property, job, husband, wife, children, ignorance.etc. Whatever it may be, we are encouraged to call on Jesus anytime to intervene, and on the Saints of God to intercede for us. Let us remember that no time is too late for God to resolve our challenges. Peter's Mother-in-Law started serving her guests immediately Jesus restored her health. Let our daily Divine gifts of life continue to spur us on to keep striving to serve God in our brothers and Sisters well, for that is our mission on earth. We can see that same Spirit and zeal for service in our perfect Model and Master Jesus Christ. Haven preached with authority in the Synagogue the previous day and done several healing, he got up very early and went to prepare himself in a lonely place before he goes to another place to continue his service of preaching the Good News, for which he came. Let us learn from him that Prayer and adequate meditative or reflective Preparation at the presence of God are very important for effective services. THE HOLY SPIRIT - OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND. KEEP PERSEVERING IN FOLLOWING JESUS DAILY WITH YOUR CROSS. Noble Child of God, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle in my path, because you are thinking not as God thinks but as human beings do"(Mt.16:23(16: 21-27). Naturally, no normal human being loves pain, suffering, hardship, persecution, humiliation, etc. We are naturally inclined to avoid anything that can make us and our loved ones uncomfortable. Thus, in human view, Simon Peter could not comprehend why the Son of God, the Messiah, the anointed one should tell them that he is destined to be rejected, to suffer and be killed. For them, who can suffer or kill the anointed one, the Messiah? Peter thought that Jesus was having negative thoughts about himself and decided to counsel him out of such thoughts. But Jesus rebuked him. He said that he is thinking like human beings, not like God does. Oftentimes we forget that God uses discomforts or persecutions as he wants to deepen our faith and bring us closer to Himself. He uses them to send us to where He wants us to live and serve Him in Families, Marriages, Parishes, Schools, Offices, Shops, Markets, etc And He uses them to shape our characters to suit His good plans. Jesus made it very clear to his disciples, and to us that whoever wants to be a Christian or a disciples of him should first renounce himself or herself, take up his cross daily and follow him"(Mt.16:24). That means that there is no cross less Christianity. Every Christian must have something challenging him or her to prove his or her faith or love of God. So for God's sake, no threat with any discomfort or even death should make us to compromise or give up our faith or love of God(Rm.8:35-37). Our perseverance in following Jesus daily with our crosses will win us our lives(Lk.21:19) EVER LIVING AND LOVING FATHER, YOU KNOW HOW WEAK AND FAITHLESS WE CAN BE SOMETIMES IN THE FACE OF SOME CHALLENGES IN OUR LIVES. THE HOLY SPIRIT OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND. KEEP MAINTAINING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. Child of God, Come Holy Spirit...But you,' Jesus asked, 'who do you say I am?' Then Simon Peter spoke up and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' Jesus replied, 'Simon son of Jonah, you are a blessed man! Because it was no human agency that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.(Mt.16:15-17(16:13-20) It is important to note that an honest answer to the question, "Who do I say that Jesus is? Or proper reflection on Peter's answer to that question can be of great help to us. Let us not just know about Jesus but strive to have personal relationship with Him. If we do so, we will hear Him better and have the grace to obey Him. Thus, God the Father answered the question of Jesus to his disciples, through Simon Peter because of the close relationship between Him and Peter. Jesus was very pleased with Simon Peter's spot on answer and blessed him, nicknamed him Peter (the rock) and made him the leader of his emerging community of believers. We can say that, God the Father made his choice of Simon Peter to be the leader of his Church by speaking through him. Jesus simply pronounced the symbols of his office and a little description of his role as the chief shepherd of God's flock. That reminds us that God is always the one who calls whoever he wants to serve Him. He does not choose the qualified but whoever he chooses for the reasons best known to him, he qualifies to work for Him. It is note worthy, that after his resurrection, Jesus called Peter three consecutive times and asked him to take care of his flock. So, no doubt that Peter's deep personal relationship with God earned him Divine Grace and Favours. Let us keep Striving earnestly to maintain our personal relationship with God and His Grace will continue to be sufficient for us to keep loving and serving him better. But the woman had come up and was bowing low before him. 'Lord,' she said, 'help me.'He replied, 'It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to little dogs.' She retorted, 'Ah yes, Lord; but even little dogs eat the scraps that fall from their masters' table.' Then Jesus answered her, 'Woman, you have great faith. Let your desire be granted.' And from that moment her daughter was well again".(Mt.15:24-28(15:21-28) God is all-knowing. He is aware of every past, present, and future events(Omniscient). As God, nothing was hidden to Jesus. Thus, as soon as he saw the Canaanite Woman, He knew her very well like he knew the Samaritan Woman that met him at the Well(Jn.4:1-42). When the friends of the Paralytic man opened the roof and lowered him down for Jesus to cure him, he knew that the cause of the man's illness was sin and he forgave him(Mt.9:1-8). Therefore, let us remember always that our beloved God knows us and all our yearnings very well. But we should not also forget that He created all things for "His Fun"(Glory). So he knows all the WHY? behind everything. We panic and worry so much about things and events because we do not know very well the Good plans of God for us. When Jesus got the message that his friend Lazarus was sick, he said, "This sickness will not end in death, but it is for God's glory so that through it the Son of God may be glorified"(Jn 11:4). Indeed, the son of God was glorified through that sickness, death and raising from the death of Lazarus. We can see his good reason for not curing his good friend Lazarus when he was invited and expected to do so. Like the Canaanite woman, let us keep approaching God in prayers with humility, childlike trust and faith that he is abundantly able to grant our needs. We can pray vigorously with convictions but not shouting or commanding God to "do it now". His time, we say is the best, not our time. Let us also remind ourselves that persistence and perseverance are very essential for effective prayers. Hence, delay, not denial is one of the means he uses to test our faith and love of him and our neighbours. No doubt that waiting on God for our needs can be very challenging sometimes, but can we make it a point of duty to always see reasons to identify and acknowledge God's faithfulness in our lives and appreciate him? Appreciation, we say is an application for more. May our faith and perseverance in good works help us to keep passing our daily Divine Tests. THE HOLY SPIRIT - OUR BEST AND GREATEST FRIEND. FEAR NOT.JESUS IS WITHIN US AND NEAR US TO SAVE US. Child of God, Come Holy Spirit!..."Jesus said, 'Come.' Then Peter got out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus across the water, but then noticing the wind, he took fright and began to sink. 'Lord,' he cried, 'save me!' Jesus put out his hand at once and held him. 'You have so little faith,' he said, 'why did you doubt?(Mt.14:29-31(14:22-33) The disciples of Jesus were afraid in their boat because the sea waves, storms and winds were against them. Like the disciples on a journey with the boat, we are also on a journey, traveling from this world to heaven. As such, many things like financial demands, health challenges, family concerns, School matters, Job demands, emotional concerns, disappointments, etc scare and terrify us. Like the waves and the storms try to make the disciples' boat sink, the challenges and trials we experience daily are also testing our trust and faith in God, trying to sink us. Are we going to remain firm on the right path of life and please God or are we going to start looking for Jesus that is in us and near us where he is not? We can see that Jesus was not disturbed. He walked on the sea as the Master of the universe to meet his disciples. He showed that he is above the challenges of this world. When they saw him, they thought he was a ghost and became more terrified. He calmed their fears. He said, "Courage, it is I" ; Zealous Peter said, Lord, if you are the one ask me to come to you. He asked him to come. Focusing on Jesus, his love, power, compassion, mercy, miracles, etc. Peter walked on the sea towards him. But when he moved his focus and attention from Jesus to the waves and the winds he started sinking. He called on Jesus to save him and he lifted him up. Let us remember always that Jesus is ever with us and near us to help or save us. Let us keep focusing on Pleasing God so that we may remain afloat and not on our lacks and needs that will make us to sink. God knows all we need. The more we recognize his presence and nearness to us, the joyful, the happier and the safer our journeys will be. Noble Child of God, let us remember always that our beloved Creator and Father, beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and our beloved comforter and advocate, Holy Spirit know us and all our yearnings very well. But He always wants to see our love of Him and our neighbours and our trust and faith in Him. So the questions that may help us are: Can we persist and persevere in our prayers and good works when he decides to test us with his delays? No doubt that waiting on Him can be very challenging. Can we present our needs to him more with humility, childlike trust and faith without "shouting or commanding him" to do it now? His time, we say is the best. Can we make it a point of duty to always see reasons to identify and acknowledge God's faithfulness in our lives and appreciate him? Appreciation, we say is an application for more.
